In December 2005 I realised one of my travel ambitions - to visit Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Having had numerous jabs and bought anti -mosquito sprays and anti-malaria tablets ( none of which I needed by the way) I was ready for the long haul flight to Bangkok and then Phnom Penh.
As this was primarily a photo trip deciding what to take was a problem. I decided to take the Nikon D70 for my main still camera with 4 lenses -the Sigma 12-24 , 18-200 and 70-300 zooms and a Nikon 105 macro lens. As a back-up I had a Minolta Dimage 7 which I used only for infra red images. I also took a Sony digital camcorder. All images were saved as jpegs on an Epson p200 - great device - and then finally saved on the computer as tifs after post processing in Photoshop.
Below are a selection of the many images taken during the trip. There are some larger versions of some of the pictures.

Having arrived in the Cambodia capital Phnom Pehn early morning and booked into our hotel our small party met the Gecko tour leader and following lunch we then took a walk past the Independance Monument -left and local stall holders near a park - above.
Our walk took us to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda complex where the images below were shot. There is a small fee if you take pictures or video.

The panorama of the painting was formed by 7 overlapping images in 'autostitch'. Each image was about 1/30 f5.6 with the 12-24 Sigma. The two images below cropped from the pano show details of the painting.

After the visit to the Royal Palace we strolled around the river front area which was a hive of activity in the early evening.

Crossing the road required a slow even pace as the traffic just went round you.
Speed up or stop and you're in trouble.
Finally a walk back to the hotel with a couple of traffic impressions -both shots hand held.
