USA 2008 - Day 18
Part 2
Tombstone
One of the main attractions in Tombstone is the re-enactment of the Battle in the OK Corral. The original battle took place on the afternoon of October 26th 1881. It took place in a 18ft lot next to Fly's Boarding House and Photo Studio. The battle ended the feud between the Earps and the Clantons. Police Chief Virgil Earp deputized brothers Wyatt and Morgan and also Doc Holliday to help him disarm the Clantons and the McLaurys. Though only three men were killed during the gunfight it's regarded as the most famous gunfight in the history of the Old West and it's figured in many films and books. Only Wyatt Earp survived unscathed from the encounter and he died of old age in 1929.
