A long drive - 370 miles - to start the day before stopping off in Sedona well known for its stunning array of red sandstone rock formations. It's also the home of John McCain and Al Pacino has a second home here. Both Orsan Wells and Lucille Ball used to live here too.
Quite a few films have been made in the area.
The amazing Chapel of the Holy Cross was built on a 250 feet high twin pinnacled spur. It was completed in 1956. The huge house that you can see from the Chapel is owned by a Rumanian doctor. He is said to have been involved in the development of laser eye surgery
I also spent an hour or so in Red Rock Canyon before driving onto Flagstaff and the motel.
