Not the easiest of wins for City. Swansea as expected were no pushover despite City's good home record against them. So when the Swans went ahead early on we feared the worst in the light of our recent performances but City soon drew level with an excellent goal from Jovetic and then in the second half Yaya Toure had one of his amazing individual moments when he scored the winning goal from close range after a great run. Swansea's keeper had a good game making one magnificent save from a thunderbolt from Clichy who has yet to score for City. Fabianski was kept busy in the second half as City piled on the pressure to make the game safe. Swansea almost scored again in the second half as they counter attacked with pace but City stood firm and the three points were well deserved in the end.
I am not yet convinced the City defence is playing as well as they should and the area in front of the back four is not often covered as well it should. At least we kept Aguero up when the visitors had a corner. We should be doing this more often.
The return of Kompany and Zabaleta was very welcome
Swansea had a reasonable number of fans present
The extension to the South Stand continues with more seats in place
After just 8 minutes a pass from Dyer found Bony put onside by Navas (what was he doing there!)
Bony brilliantly controlled the ball and hit it past Joe Hart to give Swansea the lead
Their supporters gave voice to celebration
ten minutes later they were silent as Navas crossed ....
.... and in dashed Jovetic to clip the ball past Fabianski to bring City level
There was much relief for City fans as Jovetic celebrated his 3rd league goal of the season
Fabianski collects under pressure from Clichy
Aguero is brought down by Bartley
Nasri is giving his opinion of the incident!
Bartley gets a yellow card
Referee Swarbrick points out to players that he is not wearing glasses!
After Aguero is fouled off the ball the referee comes to calm things down
the situation is becoming more heated - pity the 4th official cannot view video images to help referees
The ref now tries to 'conduct' the players
Fabianski saves from Aguero
If you wondered who the red band was in the crowd I can reveal they were the Benfica players and officials who had lost to City EDS 3-1 earlier in the day at Ewen Fields
On 40 minutes Aguero ( on the ball) passed to Clichy who let fly a tremendous shot which Fabianski managed to punch onto the bar and away to safety. A great effort which deserved a goal!
Joe Hart had some work to do in the opening minutes of the second half
at the other end Fabianski had a catch a poor City corner and watch an effort from Zabaleta go over the bar
Fabianski saves from Aguero
On 61 minutes Fernandinho backheels to the on running Toure ......
......who takes the pass and runs at goal ........
and slips the ball past the keeper to give City the lead
The City players celebrate an important goal
on 70 minutes Zabaleta shoots over when well placed
a City counter attack almost ends in a goal for Aguero but Fabianski beats him to it
on 85 minutes Gomis had a good chance but his effort went wide
Aguero shoots over from an narrow angle
just on time a free kick by Shelvey is diverted by a defender just wide of goal with Hart wrong footed
Hart punches the corner clear
Milner is foiled by the keeper in the final moments
