Well we did not quite achieve the ten goals I was hoping for but City can now book their place at Wembley in late February against either Spurs or Chelsea. City had put out a strong side and achieved their reward with a good display. Jesus scored four and the others were notched by De Bruyne, Zinchenko, Foden, Walker and Mahrez. Keeper Muric had little to do and Garcia did well in defence. Zinchenko scored a good goal from distance - or was it a cross!! De Bruyne and Silva were able to get in some good time after their absence through injury and Walker enjoyed scoring. With the return game a formality I wonder whether Pep will put some youngsters in the team.
City put out a strong side with both De Bruyne and David Silva starting. Garcia on his 18th birthday made his 2nd appearance in the cup but Foden was on the bench
Prior to the kick-off the visitors had an unusual exercise!
City took an early lead when De Bruyne headed a Silva cross past the keeper.
He does not score many goals with his head!
It was a good start and vital to get that early goal

A minute later Zinchenko puts in cross or was it a shot from well outside the penalty area and ......
....it goes over the keeper into the net for his first goal for City
I think he enjoyed that one!

On 52 minutes Mahrez attacks down the right wing.....
...and eventually the ball is headed home by Jesus to make it five nil

58 minutes and on comes Foden for De Bruyne
A shot by Jesus is saved by the keeper
...but the ball goes to Foden......
...who shoots into the net and thanks Jesus for the assist!
Three minutes later and it was 7 nil - Jesus scoring yet again
More celebrations and could we beat the Huddesfield win of November 1987 10-1
A few minutes later Silva passes to Mahrez who crosses and Walker -yes Walker cracks the ball past the keeper for number 8
I think he enjoyed that one -his second of the season

On 83 minutes Mahrez makes it 9 nil
