USA 2008 - Day 16
Part 2
After leaving the Petrified Forest I headed south towards Silver City stopping for a break and some close-ups near a lake before driving up a windy narrow precipitous road into the Mogollon Mountains to reach the ghost town of Mogollon.
This former mining town was founded in the late 1880's at the bottom of Silver Creek Canyon. It supported the gold and silver mines in the surrounding mountains and once had a pretty wild reputation as it was very isolated. However it was plagued by a series of fires and floods. In 1973 it was used for a film called " My name is Nobody" starring Henry Fonda. This spaghetti western was Fonda's last western film.
