Hurrah - we got a league goal at home and a winning one too as Tevez in his 50th Premiership game for City scored early on to win against an in form Bolton. Such was the attacking ability of City the score could easily have been 4 or 5. City played some great football in an open game with David Silva the main creator. Both Tevez and Ya Ya Toure worked hard and the latter had his best game for a while. Mario Balotelli showed some nice touches and Barry did well. In defence Kompany was the pick saving the day when he hooked the ball off the line when Joe Hart made a rare error of judgment. Joe Hart was otherwise rarely troubled. Both Zabaleta and Kolarov were able to attack but City went down to ten men when Kolarov got his second yellow card. Tevez got his 5th yellow and will miss the next game at West Ham.
City were back to full strength following the midweek game - Milner and Johnson being on the bench
It was good to see that Alan's mum had stayed on after Wednesdays game!
City were soon on the attack and Jaaskelainen was soon in action saving from Tevez
After just 3 minutes Ya Ya Toure put through a great ball of perfect pace for Tevez to gallop past two defenders.......
........and crack the ball past the keeper to put City one up. Just what we needed - an early goal
It was Tevez's 10th league goal
After 8 minutes Kevin Davies was booked for a foul on Kolarov
Martin Petrov previously a City favorite was soon in action for Bolton
Kolarov dives to head clear
After 13 minutes City had a shout for a penalty when a Silva shot was blocked by a defender. The referee said no hand ball!
A Petrov free kick is well saved by Joe Hart
Hart punches clear
On the half hour City broke through again .......
... and Silva passed to Tevez who had an open goal but the effort was disallowed for offside against Barry earlier who had not been interfering with play!!
A few minutes later and Tevez got his 5th yellow card of the season after a clash with Ricketts on the goal line. Did not look as bad as Ricketts made out
Hart clears under pressure from Davies
Good work by Silva.....
Gave a good chance to Tevez but the Bolton keeper saves well to frustrate the City striker
Then it was Zabaleta's turn to be frustrated as his shot was blocked with Toure waiting for a pass
Chung-Yong Lee gets a talking too by the ref ( hope his Korean was OK)
City started the second half with more pressure on the Bolton goal - a cross by Tevez causing a problem
Zabaleta was in action at both ends -trying to stop Petrov at one and almost scoring himself at the other
Balotelli has a good effort saved by the keeper for a corner . He also hit the post
Bolton manage to clear the corner
Zabaleta once again in action at both ends
Davis Silva tried to fool the Bolton defence by taking a free kick directly at the near post rather than centering - Jaaskelainen has to save
City had an escape when a long ball was misjudged by Hart and the ball was going into the goal. Fortunately Kompany was at hand to kick clear
A great effort by Silva hits the bar and Bolton escape yet again
Kolarov is sent off after getting a second yellow card
Hart makes a good catch this time!
City down to ten men were able to keep Bolton at bay
Tevez was subbed with only a minutes or so to go but he did not really want to come off!
Team
Hart 6.5: Zabaleta 7.5, Kompany 8, Kolo Toure 6.5 (Lescott 6.5), Kolarov 6.5: Ya Ya Toure 8, De Jong 7.5, Barry 8, Silva 8.5,( Richards) Balotelli 7, Tevez 8 ( Milner)
