Day 4
Angkor Wat & Angkor Thom
A very early start leaving the hotel at 4 in the morning for dawn at Angkor Wat ( we hoped). Getting dawn pictures anywhere is dicey as you can rarely know what the weather is going to be like. As I was going to do a time lapse on the D70 using the 'time machine' I was hoping for some cloud movement. Below are 4 images from the sequence. It was not the best of dawns -I've seen better and worse. Our leader ensured we would be first in position and we had chairs!

After breakfast we had to get past the cluster of children selling postcards and guide books. The cry of "one dollarrr" still remains in the memory bank!
Fin, our expert local guide tells us about Angkor Wat.
Fin was an excellent guide and can be reached

After the visit to Angkor Wat it was time for a lunch break before a visit to Angkor Thom one of the largest Khmer cities, entering by the South Gate with its row of gods and demons. .Then a visit to see the many heads at Bayon , the State Temple one of the most powerful religious constructions in the world. The mass of face towers is not to be missed. How I missed a bit of sunlight though. Only at the end of the day did we get any when visiting the Elephant Terrace. Really to do both Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom justice photographically one needs a day in each so that you stand a better chance to enjoy better lighting.
