In December 2005 I realised one of my travel ambitions - to visit Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The trip had been organised through Gecko Travel (02392258859) and having had numerous jabs and bought anti -mosquito sprays and anti-malaria tablets ( none of which I needed by the way) I was ready for the long haul flight to Bangkok and then Phnom Penh.

As this was primarily a photo trip deciding what to take was a problem. I decided to take the Nikon D70 for my main still camera with 4 lenses -the Sigma 12-24 , 18-200 and 70-300 zooms and a Nikon 105 macro lens. As a back-up I had a Minolta Dimage 7 which I used only for infra red images. I also took a Sony digital camcorder.

Having arrived in the Cambodia capital Phnom Pehn early morning and booked into our hotel our small party met the Gecko tour leader and following lunch we then took a walk past the Independance Monument -left and local stall holders near a park - above.
Our walk took us to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda complex where the images below were shot. There is a small fee if you take pictures or video.
